AB Drive Fault Finder

Drive Fault Finder is a simple tool that helps maintenance engineers, technicians, and plant operators quickly identify and resolve drive faults. Instead of searching through bulky manuals, this tool lists all fault/error codes. Whether you’re on the shop floor, in maintenance, or troubleshooting remotely, this fault finder makes the process faster and more efficient.

Key Features

  • Easy to use – Search by drive model and fault code.
  • Fast reference – Get troubleshooting steps in seconds.
  • Reliable – Includes links to official manuals for deeper study.

Supported Drives

AC Drives

AC drives (also called Variable Frequency Drives – VFDs) are used to control the speed of AC motors. Our fault finder covers the most widely used Allen-Bradley PowerFlex series:

  • PowerFlex 4 / 4M – Compact drives for simple motor control.
  • PowerFlex 40 / 40P / 400 – Mid-range drives for pumps, fans, and conveyors.
  • PowerFlex 523 / 525 – Modern compact drives with Ethernet/IP communication.
  • PowerFlex 70 / 700 / 700S – High-performance drives with advanced motor control.
  • PowerFlex 753 / 755 – Popular in industries for heavy-duty applications.
  • PowerFlex 7000 – Medium voltage drives for large motors.
  • 1305 AC Drive & 1336 Plus – Legacy drives still used in older plants.

DC Drive

  • PowerFlex DC – Provides adjustable speed control for DC motors, often used in legacy systems.

Servo Drives

Servo drives are used where precision motion control is required (packaging, robotics, machine tools). Our fault finder supports:

  • Ultra 3000 – Legacy servo system.
  • Kinetix 3 / 300 – Compact servo solutions for low axis counts.
  • Kinetix 2000 / 5500 / 5700 / 6000 / 6200 / 6500 / 7000 – A complete range of modern servo drives used in automation and robotics.

Communication Cards

Many drives use communication cards to connect with PLCs or control systems. Faults in these cards can disrupt the whole network. Supported modules include:

  • 20-COMM-E - Ethernet/IP adapter
  • 20-COMM-D – DeviceNet adapter
  • 20-COMM-C/Q – ControlNet/Profibus adapter
  • 20-COMM-R –: Remote I/O adapter

Communication Scanners

In addition to drive modules, some scanners are used in PLC racks to communicate with devices:

  • 1756-DNB DeviceNet Scanner - For ControlLogix systems.
  • 1769-SDN DeviceNet Scanner – For CompactLogix systems.
